The Kennel Manager is responsible for overall management and oversight of the animals in the shelter including the medical care, general husbandry ( feeding, housing and cleaning protocols) as well as enrichment and well being of the housed animals in accordance with Animal Shelter Association guidelines. Hours: Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) Pay rate: $30,000 - $45,000 (based on skill and experience) Benefits: Healthcare included Duties will include: Attitude of service and compassion. Establish appropriate vaccine and deworming protocols in collaboration with the shelter veterinary advisors ( Dr Stone & Dr Cato). Administer (or direct) other treatments as needed. Institute staff training and appropriate monitoring of these protocols. Data entry- keep accurate/updated records on animal treatments in software files and on cage cardsTo determine the type and amount of food animals receive. Supervises the general health of the population including external parasite control as well as monitoring for illness or injury. Ensure that adequate resources, including kennel space , are available for the animals.To walk dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder. Review, establish and monitor appropriate cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Establish an enrichment program for all the animals. Organize and maintain supplies Staff training and supervision. Setting work schedules for kennel staff. Work with Director to achieve a goal of 90% or higher save rate and reduce overcrowding and length of stay in the shelter. Work with Director to promote an attitude of service and compassion in the staff Identify areas of the shelter property and/or shelter tools that need maintenance Work with board members, volunteers, and maintenance staff to ensure all low-cost maintenance issues are addressed in a timely fashion and within the allotted budget Notify Shelter Director of significant maintenance issues and follow up to ensure important issues are corrected in a timely manner Escort public to new animals. Knowledge of spelling and meaning of commonly used veterinary terminology in order to accurately enter specific information onto animal records. Minimum Qualifications: Working Conditions: Work is normally performed inside; some outside work is required. Exposure to unpleasant odors and noises. Exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes. Possible exposure to contagious diseases. Possible exposure to parasites. Ability To: Learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Physical Effort: Often requires lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 40 lbs. Frequently requires handling of materials up to 20 lbs. Additionally, handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs. Walking and/or standing for long periods. Frequently work in a bent position. May be required to use strength or agility in capturing and restraining stronger, more active animals. Education: High School Diploma and required certifications. The Animal Care Attendant is responsible for the overall care of all the animals within the shelter. The responsibilities will vary based on the current needs of the shelter. Provides for the constant cleanliness of cages, runs and shelter areas and the proper feeding and care of all shelter animals. Hours: Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) Pay rate: $11/hr Duties will include: Demonstrate an attitude of service and compassion. To observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent. To thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas of the shelter as often as is necessary. To determine the type and amount of food animals receive. To take charge and/or handle animals as required and to restrain hard to control animals. To walk dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder. To perform needed cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and tools used in job assignments. Major Duties: Follow the shelter proceduresl. Escort public to view animals. Unpacking, labeling and stocking of shelter supplies and donations Make sure animals are clean and smell fresh. Recognize and records any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any shelter animal. Report signs of illness, disease, injury or unusual activity to shelter director.. Feed each animal as prescribed by the attending D.V.M. and records appetites. Receive animals to be admitted for shelter care and is responsible for their proper identification and for recording their respective locations. Release animals to their owners as directed by customer service or the shelter director. Assist doctors, technicians, treatment assistants and other personnel with the administration of medications or with restraint. Make sure cages and animals are properly numbered and identified. Cleans and sanitizes all cages, runs, and related areas. Wash and dry towels and blankets. Wash and sterilize water and food bowls. Perform general cleaning. Empty trash. Patrol shelter grounds daily, picking up any trash and stool material. Maintain equipment used to complete job assignments and keeping such equipment and tools in good working condition. Do minor repairs on such equipment as needed and notifying management as to major repairs needed or new equipment necessary to adequately complete assignments. Under the direction of the Board of the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter, the Shelter Director is responsible for the operational oversight of the Shelter. Functional oversight includes animal intake, pet placement programs (adoption, foster, rescue transfer/transport), pet support services, and volunteer services. Monitors all aspects of the humane treatment and handling of shelter animals, animal flow, record keeping, and use of limited housing space. The director should anticipate client and constituent needs and continually search for ways to increase customer satisfaction, managing escalated and emotionally charged situations with tact, empathy and respect. Hours: Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) Pay rate: $50,000 - $65,000 (based on skill and experience) Benefits: Healthcare included Duties will include: Attitude of service and compassion. Under the supervision of the Director of Animal Shelter Operations, performs a variety of clerical and general administrative tasks in support of the animal shelter and staff. Prepares correspondence, maintains records and filing systems, prepares various reports and other documents and may assist in processing of accounts payable and receivable. Assists visitors and callers with information on department services and by responding to specific inquiries. May assist with other projects as assigned. Hours: Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM) Pay rate: $14/hr Duties will include: Attitude of service and compassion. Prepares documents including typing of correspondence, forms and reports, flyers, brochures, and other materials. Compiles data as needed for reporting or billing purposes. Maintains department filing and record systems. Processes various administrative records. May serve as receptionist and greet the public in person as well as by telephone and email. Answers routine inquiries requiring general familiarity with departmental operations, programs and procedures. Assists individuals needing various forms, completing forms, or providing other information. Processes or assists with accounts receivable. Gathers information on services provided to clients and customers and prepares invoices. Sends invoices to the appropriate payer and receives and posts payment to the appropriate account. Performs a variety of clerical support tasks such as making copies, opening, sorting and distributing mail, sending faxes and related tasks. Operates a computer and utilizes case management and data entry Explains departmental policies and the laws and ordinances related to animal control. Documents complaints and informs complainant that animal control will contact them; provide phone numbers and pass information on to appropriate personnel or contact appropriate dept. Logs, distributes and files complaints. Initiates paperwork on animals brought to the department and maintains registers of animals housed at the shelter. Initiates paperwork on complaints made to the department and maintains records until complaint is closed. Files complaint with appropriate entity and file location. Shows animals for adoption, explains adoption process and prepares necessary records for adoption. Handles animals coming into or leaving the shelter in the absence of other staff. Performs the functions of the Attendant as necessary including but not limited to cleaning kennels, managing volunteers and community service workers, etc. Conducts daily reviews of voice mail, email, faxes and postal mail.Follow up with required notifications and monitors for timely compliance by owners. Refers non-compliant owners to local authorities as needed. Assists with miscellaneous projects as directed. Some college level coursework in word processing, spreadsheets and accounting preferred. Experience: Preferred two to three years’ experience in a secretarial or administrative office capacity. Prefer experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs and account keeping experience. Other Requirements: Valid drivers’ License, ability to pass a background check. 
Relevant Skills/Specialized Equipment Knowledge: Compassion for animals. Basic office equipment such as telephone, calculator, photocopier, Fax, etc. Photographic, audio and video equipment.
